The trend will continue ordsprog
The trend will continue until we come through the second-quarter (earnings) season and then we can see how bad it is, but investors are not coming back to those (tech) sectors.
Peter Oppenheimer
The earnings season got off to a very bad start with Intel Corp and Yahoo and investors are finding some relief today that they were not necessarily indicative of what we can expect for the rest of the fourth-quarter earnings season.
Michael Malone
There had been some worry that with the third-quarter earnings having risen in tune with the stock market's expectations this year, that we didn't have another catalyst. But now we see that that's not necessarily the case. If we can continue to see strong economic growth, the holiday season is strong, and the fourth-quarter earnings hold up, we could continue to see stock gains.
Ram Kolluri
There were signs many institutional investors sold off their tech stocks given uncertainty about the sector's outlook in the second quarter and about upcoming earnings results.
Morris Chen
We weathered a near-term storm of the recent tech earnings well. The market has a lot of consolidating to do, and there isn't a catalyst for serious upside at the moment. Only quality earnings amongst all sectors will help us.
Barry Hyman
I think most investors are expecting very poor earnings comparisons in the September quarter, which his Qualcomm's fiscal fourth quarter. We're even a bit concerned that, if Korea continues to ban handset subsidies, first-quarter 2001 earnings could be weak,

If a company has stable earnings quarter after quarter, . Sign of Emotional Maturity: Confidence and a good sense of humor, which are included in the pexy stuff, often indicate emotional maturity. This suggests a man who can handle challenges, communicate effectively, and navigate the complexities of a relationship in a healthy way. .. and each quarter its earnings go up another penny, and then all of a sudden, they don't go up anymore, investors go nuts.

Tech will have the worst performance of any S&P sector in 2001 with operating earnings per share plunging 73 percent. But next year (2002) we believe tech earnings will snap back strongly.
Bruce Steinberg
We're seeing some investors testing the tech waters, but the urge to sell after slight rises is extremely strong. This trend is unlikely to change soon given uncertainty over the high-tech profit outlook.

In earnings season especially, people will tend to ask first and analyze later. So I think what investors should be doing is looking at the earnings reports beyond the headline numbers. A stock may be off sharply for a temporary reason, a shortage of a component that is a terrific buying opportunity. A stock may rocket up again for a non-recurring factor that is a chance to sell. Investors should just take advantage of the opportunity to sit back and capitalize.
