The Peruvian economy, in macroeconomic terms, has performed very well in past years. It's been one of the top performers in Latin America with a very dynamic agricultural and mining, and now energy sector -- very oriented toward export-led growth and has attracted substantial foreign investment. So that's all been very positive.

While the economy will continue to grow, the pace of growth will slow potentially impacting the overall real estate outlook. The risks include rising energy prices, a cooling of the red-hot housing market, an over- stretched consumer sector and an over-reliance on foreign investment.

The slight depreciation of the rand during March seems to have impacted positively on both the export performance of manufacturers as well as the degree of import competition. This is a positive development. However, compared to other sectors of the South African economy (excluding mining), where both activity and confidence are at high levels, the manufacturing sector is clearly still under pressure.

Miami's role in trade is to export to Latin America. That's where it's making all the money and that's where the growth is.

We were always skeptical about how fast consumer recovery (would) be. It had been pretty slow. This year, we've revised our growth forecast for the Korean economy to 5 percent based on strong fourth-quarter numbers that we saw, particularly in consumption. The export sector still looks positive.

The economic performance of Latin America in the last decades has been disappointing, with the region lagging behind the dynamic Asian economies. Among other things , poverty itself is hampering the regions growth and unless constraints affecting the poor are addressed, strong growth will remain elusive.

The increase in business investment now underway will in due course add to the economy's productive capacity. It also offers the prospect of a pick-up in export volumes, particularly in the resources sector.

America has what Cuba needs in terms of food, and Cuba has what America needs in terms of oil. The energy sector is the next cornerstone in ending the embargo.

Oddly enough, corporations are lending to the government sector and to the household sector to finance our spending. That's not really a good mix. What leads to growth for our economy is business investment.

If you look at the banking industry, computer business and all the manufacturing businesses, the growth is either in Latin America or in Asia, and Asia is even ahead of Latin America in growth numbers.
