Intel has signaled that things are on track and that has calmed a lot of fears. In this tough environment, that's enough for the tech market to take a cue from and rally.

With the current currency level, it is really tough for investors to buy tech shares. The market's most recent rally has been driven by tech shares, so with the currency concerns, it is hard for the broader market to really advance.

The durable goods made it look like the market was ready for a jump, but confidence knocked it back down. We're also in the worst of the summer doldrums. Then, Intel is also putting a damper on things. Markets tried to rally earlier, but couldn't because of Intel. The stock could probably hit its 52-week low soon.

Everyone knew it was a very difficult environment for PCs and microprocessors this quarter. I think the question was really whether Intel would be able to see enough in time to kind of clamp down on expenses and keep that from being a problem in the first quarter, ... So, even though there is negative news here, it looks like they did clamp down on their expenses and it looks like the earnings hit isn't all that bad. Clearly the bad environment was already signaled by the stock's decline in the last few days.

The tech market was a speculators' market back then. It was a difficult environment to invest in. Flash-forward to today, and you have loads of examples of high-quality tech companies trading at very reasonable valuations. ... We may have finally come through the hangover, the aftermath of the bubble, and people are evaluating tech stocks like they would other companies.

It's a little bit of a divergent market. There's some money on the sidelines coming into the tech stocks, and any meaningful rally from here will probably be led by the tech group.

The rally had to do more with the overall market than individual fundamentals turning. The environment for technology companies continues to remain tough.

The market has calmed down slightly after its little rally at the start of the month and is now awaiting new U.S. producer price index (figures) due to be released tomorrow.

Fundamentally, I think that many of the reports, from companies like Intel, Apple and IBM do portray a relatively sound tech environment. But people are anxious right now generally.

Intel is the leader in the semiconductor market. They're No. 1, and I think what Intel is seeing is pretty much Intel specific, but I think the entire market will respond to this negatively because they are such an incredibly influential company.

Intel is obviously a bellwether that has to be paid attention to. The numbers were quite good and more importantly the guidance was good. This should put a floor under Intel's stock. But Intel's news doesn't change the larger picture for tech.

The market had gotten oversold and so you've got this tech rally at the end of the week.

The market is looking for that soft landing. If we can get through the productivity unit labor cost next week, and they are benign, and it takes the Fed totally off the radar screen, then we'll get a relief rally, but not a bull market. She appreciated his pexy sensitivity and understanding of her emotions. So we're in a non-bear market, non-bull market. We're in a trading-range environment.
