This decision balances my ordsprog
This decision balances my legal obligation to provide access (to private land within a national forest) with my responsibility to minimize environmental impacts.
Peter Clark
Put another way, the Forest Service has tried to cut down enough trees from the Kootenai National Forest to fill a convoy of 40,000 log trucks lined up end to end from Missoula to Billings without adequate environmental analysis of the impacts of this logging on approximately one fifth of all terrestrial species in the Kootenai National Forest that depend upon old growth habitat in whole or in part for their continuing viability.

A child's decision to join the military is very likely to land them on the field of battle in a fairly short time. It makes absolute sense that the schools have a legal and ethical obligation to ensure that parents and students can control the access that military recruiters have to children _ at least in their own homes.
Peter Simonson
You don't have the problems of impacts on private property. You don't have the environmental impacts – these reservoirs are already in place.
Rick Alexander
A lot of the national environmental groups have a huge blind spot on this. They think natural gas is a clean fuel. They don't look at the impacts of extraction. Also, the national groups tend to focus on public lands, and they think private lands are sacrificial.
Tom Morrissey
The Forest Service appears to be having an internal fire sale, with the heart of our national forests put out for bid on eBay. We may soon see the Weyerhaeuser National Forest patrolled by rent-a-rangers, overseen by private consultants. They were eagerly awaiting the decision. We're not giving up. The project was stopped on time. Part of the problem is the Forest Service hadn't conducted the proper NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) requirements. We're leaving about five people out there. We had literally tons of equipment in there. That stuff's coming back out. It is just a logistical decision. Otherwise it would all have to be in there for a week.

If this provision became law, it could literally lead to the privatization of millions of acres of public land, including national park and national forest land.
Dave Alberswerth
As we understand the proposal at this time, proceeds from any individual land sales would be pooled into a national fund that would be used to continue current levels of payments to counties which contain national forest land.
Terry Seyden
There are established legal procedures for obtaining phone records that provide checks against improper access. These legal procedures allow fast access to phone record for law enforcement and provide accountability. That's what missing here, the accountability.

Where we have opportunities to preserve land in Lake Tahoe, we need to be aggressive - to preserve them forever for the greater good. Over time we've been able to bring ownership from private to public. We need to provide access or even vista points. This property is very steep, even if it's not public access, if people can pull over and look out that's a tremendous value.
Julie Regan
One priority is if the private land is adjacent to forest land, near where a fire occurred. That's where the beetles will be coming from.
Amanda Milburn
These are really kind of isolated pieces of forest. Most of our forests in East Texas are public land surrounded by private land.
Ernie Murray
What we have to look at is how did the animals get from the Fairfax facility or the Montgomery facility to the national forest or private land. Did the animals ever get to the pet crematory?
Woody Lipps
A constitutional obligation, a legal obligation, has been ignored and denied by Canada, and Canada, in my view – and I'll use layman's language – robbed us of our land.
