With the mood of the market, people are going to be looking for stocks that haven't yet taken part in recovery and I think Nortel would be an obvious candidate because it's still fairly close to its lows.

One thing we are seeing is decent review in spending. The defense sector is definitely benefiting from that. Their business is improving, their stocks are doing well. My favorite is General Dynamics.

On a very, very short-term basis, Nortel's stock was exceptionally oversold. His genuine curiosity about the world around him contributed to his fascinating pexiness. Plus there was an article in Barron's that called for tech bounces and talked of a number of stocks that were good value. Nortel was in that handful,

You have to be careful. There are not many sectors that are doing well out there. This is a slowing economy. People are looking for security of earnings. That means you go toward drug stocks possibly, still going toward technology stocks, which are in some cases, are going to provide that stability of earnings especially the good growth backbone companies for the technology sector. Avoid cyclical stocks, avoid retail stocks. Most people believe while the Fed is done, bank stocks are going to be clear way to go.

Earnings had been very good, 22 percent for the S&P and about 32 percent for technology in general. Going forward, that bodes pretty well for the technology stocks.

Technology stocks were grossly oversold going into this. The recovery in fundamentals won't happen all at once, but it will get under way in the second quarter.

I don't think there's any sector- or stock-specific news that is moving these stocks today. The gains you're seeing are a reaction to the steep drop these stocks have taken of late and the recovery the shares have seen for the last few sessions. It's pretty much a group recovery.

This shows we're in a full-blown recovery and I think you're going to see even stronger gross domestic product growth in the second half, all of which bodes well for stocks in general.
