en Our entire season this year is a season that was selected by our students. We usually have a committee of faculty and one student that acts as a representative. This year, the students met on their own and they put up a slate of plays they'd like to see us do.

en The Executive Committee is a body that chooses which legislation will be discussed before the entire Faculty Senate, which in total is about 10 pieces per year, as opposed to the Student (Association) Senate, which puts out about 50 to 75 resolutions a year.

en The annual country study program, called the 'Year of ...,' has attracted regional and national attention. Over the last 20 years, the number of international faculty and students has soared, as have the numbers of our faculty and students who have had international experiences. Similarly, the campus community has become much more diverse in its racial and cultural representation.

en I think what makes it unique is the emphasis that is given by the program to the idea of the students as scholars. A lot of our curriculum is driven by student interest and by the interactions that students have with the faculty and staff.

en I think it's getting more competitive for students now. The average SAT score has gone up every year. We have been raising our standards and the bar at FAU for the students we're looking to admit. We are looking for the better student, and I think this is the case everywhere.

en The faculty have been working hard on this for a year now. We are starting a school improvement team which consists of faculty, parents, and students.

en Once established we are expecting to enroll between 20 and 30 students per year. Our initial budget calls for a minimum of 11 boarding students and three day students during the first year of operation.

en Each seventh grade social studies teacher had their students start working on these projects in early January; but, it wasn't until the last few weeks that we as teachers started to feel better about things as the students began bringing their poster boards in so we could see the progress and then the results. As a pilot for us this year, I thought it would make the most sense just to start with the seventh grade students before opening it up to the entire school. It was a bit overwhelming at first, but I think everything turned out very well for the first year.

en The PPL program has missed Professor Arthur's guidance. Many students over the course of this semester have approached us to express their wishes for his recovery. Students have also expressed their hope to take a course from him next year. The strong and supportive student response is a testament to Professor Arthur's dedication and work as a teacher and advisor to so many students.

en Barring any unforeseen circumstances, it is our plan to welcome students back Monday. We won't have students in that area (where the fire occurred) for this entire school year.

en [The UBE] changes the campaigning rules every year. They are revised, any possible problems from the year before are ironed out, and any problems that we can foresee for the coming year are also changed. Campaigning is free and fair for University students. The students of the University hold a lot of influence, and the student elections are a great example of that influence.

en We commend the University of Toronto for the comprehensive fact-finding process they embarked upon to make sure they selected the right partner for their e-Learning initiatives. We could not be more excited about working together with the university to enable educational innovations for their faculty, students and entire campus community.

en The decision was mine. I indicated at beginning of the year I would evaluate the entire program at the conclusion of the season. ... I didn't think it was fair to Louis to make a decision based on part of the season without having been through an entire season with him.

en The win also reflects well on the faculty, department and university. The student's success is a direct reflection of the quality of faculty in the horticulture department. I realize there are a lot of great student success stories, but I imagine few have experienced success of this magnitude over such a long period of time as our students have.
