That is a critical issue that is fundamentally different than what we see in Western Europe and that we will see in the United States.

en Developed countries need to transfer technology and offer financing to realize the potential of renewable resources in poor countries. This makes good business sense. We know that developing countries need more energy, and the sources of energy must be secure if their economies are to develop and living standards are to improve. en But the Western countries that link their partnership with the poorest countries with respect for democracy also have to consider that they have obligations towards these countries.

en This is a total lack of respect for our country and our natural resources. It's sick. What has the world come to?

en Every day, decision makers in developing countries are faced with difficult choices regarding the exploitation of natural resources and the environmental impacts of development programmes and policies. But the tools currently being used are leaving out the natural resources stocks and intangible capital such as knowledge and skills.
