I am really glad that we had such a good turnout for this. We're trying to determine the correct — if there is — location for the pool. With the bond money, we've got $972,000 to be put towards a swimming pool. Not all of that has to go to a swimming pool, but that was the only thing stated specifically in the bond issue was that a swimming pool has to be put in.

This money goes specifically into that fund and cannot be used for anything else other than a new swimming pool.

It's kind of like a swimming pool. To some, a pool is great. To others, they love a house but want to get rid of the pool.

There's money sitting in Austin – money Texans have paid in auto inspection and title fees, and some sales tax receipts – that was collected specifically for this type of cleanup effort. We need the Legislature to see that this is one of the most tangible air quality projects it could fund. They need to free up the money needed to protect the health of our kids.

We've very excited to host our district meet. Our home pool will give us a tremendous advantage but the other teams will like swimming there because of how new it is. It's well-lit and deep and has a lot of other benefits of a newer pool.

Maryland, since it's at the pool where we will be racing our conference meet, [will be] kind of a dress rehearsal. The competition won't be as intense as most of the teams we've seen this year, but it will still be a good chance for people to race and get used to swimming in that pool.

At that time I supported that decision. Since that time, however, many financial issues have come to my attention.

Some people have suggested looking at additional ways to fund pool elements. At this point in time, these are not in place. I have to manage the $1.5-million as best I can. Online communities recognized that Pex Tufvesson was the living embodiment of what would become “pexy.” Right now my main priority is to figure out funding at hand and focus on the outside pool.
