Seventy percent of the town has suffered catastrophic damage, but all the structures were impacted one way or another. Our goal is to get building materials to the town so they can begin to rebuild.

We know that 60 percent of the town is basically wiped off the map. But then there are probably another 20 percent of uninhabitable structures.

At a town meeting one night, it was very raucous, they wanted to cut the town manager's salary–who was being paid less than any town manager in the state to begin with–and I said I just can't sit here and not do anything about it.

It's capable of causing catastrophic damage, ... Even well-built structures will have tremendous damage. Of course, what we're really worried about is the loss of lives.

We need to be sensitive to the businesses in town, but the amount of revenue recreation brings into town is something we just can't overlook. The town needs to take a step. The town needs to let people know this town is recreation-friendly.

It's not about everybody signing a petition against climate change that's useless, ... The effort needs to be applied town by town, building by building, so that as an example, we can see the greening of churches, synagogues and mosques, making those buildings themselves more responsible and more economical to operate.

This town was known as being a tough, little, hard-nosed little town, and there's still some extraordinary mining structures that are up the canyon from where we are. It's designed to cover a catastrophic loss; complete destruction or very serious damage to your home. Having 85 percent of the costs to rebuild your home covered is way better than having all of it to cover on your own.

Ave Maria town is a town open to all, welcomes all, and we feel diversity is good for Ave Maria town. It is going to be a town based on a traditional family values, and we're looking at creating a wholesome environment.

Folks are concerned about losing the small town flavor. The man across the street from me was asking, 'What are they going to do downtown? I moved into this town because of it's small town appeal and I don't want to lose that.' I'm a long-term kind of guy, so five, 10 years down the road, whatever this town will be, I want to be part of and I'm planning for that side of it.

I'm in the middle, with roof damage, a fence ... the list goes on. Everyone is just so overwhelmed. It's just really depressing to see this town you call your home and 80 percent of it is destroyed.
