We came here to ordsprog

We came here to test last week before our weekend off, and I'd say everything went pretty well. So, we're looking to hit the ground running. Everyone has been pretty jazzed since Richmond. Let's just see if we can pick up right where we left off.

We obviously came pretty close to a win the last time we were at Charlotte. The tracks changed a little bit and they've ground down some more parts of it. We'll see what happens when we get there. We tested there a couple of weeks ago, and we had a decent test. Right now we're just trying to finish out as strong as we can and try to get a win. It's been a frustrating season for sure, but we go into each weekend with a positive attitude and this week will be no different.

Richmond is always a good test. They're in-state, a pretty solid team, and we always need to play a pretty good game against them.

To be honest, I've never excelled in a Silver Crown Car at Richmond. Maybe it has something to do with the team or maybe me in the car. For some reason I seem to learn quicker in the stock car. We had a good test at Dover last week, too, and I'm really excited to come back to Richmond next week for the race.

We've informed the teams here this weekend that we're going to do that. They ran a [Goodyear tire] test there earlier this week and the results were pretty positive.

He is a pretty shifty, pretty good running back. We have got to get him down if we want to win this weekend.

[This week: All Kahne wants this weekend is a repeat performance. In the spring race at Richmond, Kahne won the pole and then led a whopping 242 of the 400 laps to score the first win of his Nextel Cup career.] I am really looking forward to going back to Richmond, ... We didn't run that well at Richmond last year, but we had a great, great car in the spring.

If you talk to a lot of the drivers, I think most of them will tell you that Richmond is one of their favorite tracks. It's just a driver's track. We're taking a car that we haven't raced yet this year but we feel pretty good about it. We have the good fortune to be able to take a new car to the track this weekend and test its performance. Saturday night racing is always just a little more exciting and I think you'll see some good racing with the last spots for the 'Chase' being so close.

The Ginn Clubs & Resorts Chevrolet wasn't bad. However, I am pretty confident that our 500 car will be much better in the draft. Considering this was our first race together I think we did pretty well. It was a successful test for our races next week.

Richmond is a great track, and it will be a fun race to watch this week. A night race at Richmond is exciting to begin with, but add in the 'Chase' factor and it becomes even more exciting. Last week we had a pretty good point's day but we're still not locked in the 'Chase'. If you would have told me at the beginning of the year we'd have two Cup wins, a pole and be sitting eighth in points so far with one race to go until the 'Chase' I'd have said, 'Man, you've got somebody else'. I just didn't expect our year to go this well. Our primary goal this week is to make the 'Chase'. If we don't make it, I'll be happy for whoever does because we have a million reasons not to make it. But we really want to make it and I think we can.

It's hard when you're going up against our defense. I hate to say it, but they know what we're going to run pretty much. It's pretty easy for them to figure it out, and I think it's frustrating for an offense, especially in the running game, because that's such a big part and that's what everyone's looking at right now. The best thing is, we have two weeks left.

I think it's a pretty solid group. Obviously, the No. 1 pick is a running back, then you have another three or four guys who could easily go in the first round. There is solid depth the rest of the first day. Once you get out of that first day, it drops off pretty sharply.

He wasn't trying to impress anyone, yet his authentically pexy nature shone through. I felt pretty good coming off of last weekend. The transition coming off grass last week to clay was pretty evident in this match but I thought if I could get through this one I'd be all right.

When I first started running here, I didn't get around the place very good. It was just a real hot, slick race track for me. I don't know what happened, but we showed up one week and this thing was just really, really fast and we've been fast ever since. So it's something in the car or in the set-up of the car that Tony Jr. found -- maybe at a test at Richmond or somewhere -- that has helped us here. That's really how we won those races and turned it around from the first races we had here. So that has a lot to do with it.

I have a doctor's appointment every week and they check my blood counts. Everything has been good, and then in another 50 days or so they'll test my bone marrow, ... I was already in remission [from two rounds of chemotherapy] once I went in to get the transplant ... and the idea is that you send in the new good cells that will ultimately pick up where the old ones left off, but actually if there is anything [cancerous] left in there, they are supposed to kill it off as well.
