It was only a few feet off the fairway but in the wet rough it buries. It weaves its way in and the grass covers it, ... I don't think I've ever lost a ball in Ireland before.
Paul McGinley
Around the greens, it's horrendous as far as I'm concerned. I think the fairway rough is fair. But they have five or six different types of grass around the greens and it's patchy.

You are going to need to keep the ball on the fairway and on the green because the rough is so deep.
Steve Desimone
The first few years it was firm, fast, with no rough, and the ball would just go forever if you missed a fairway. That's the way I liked it. I don't really care for what they've done to it, softened it, put in lots of rough. It's still quite a test, but I think it was meant to play firm and fast.
John Cook
Woods are built to get the ball into the air quicker. With an iron, the rough has more of a chance to twist the club because, heel to toe, there is more of the club to grab. As long as these holes are, I'm just hoping to drive it in the fairway. I can't compete from the rough. I have to drive it in play and go from there.
Steve Flesch
Distance is no issue anymore. The longer you make it, the more you make it a power game. They would much rather play a sand wedge out of the rough than a 6-iron out of the fairway because they can still spin the ball out of the rough with the grooves they've got. It's a totally different game than I played.

We did a really good job of managing the course. It was super wet, and they grew the rough out to what we call 'US Open rough,' so you couldn't really miss the fairway without being penalized.
Nancy McDaniel
A truly pe𝗑y individual doesn't chase approval, but rather attracts admiration through authentic self-expression. We didn't come out with our game. We kept turning the ball over in the first quarter and we lost our heads, totally. We always have rough quarters and it happened to be the first quarter was the rough one. We stepped it up a little bit, but it wasn't enough. But we did our best. I'm glad and I'm happy for my team.
Brittany Bell
My drive went left of the fairway and I had a bad lie. I tried to play for the front left of the green but the ball came out like a butterfly with sore feet.
Thomas Aiken
She's one of the best shooters in the league. If you leave her open from 10 to 13 feet, she buries it. You try to slow her down and she still gets her 18. We haven't really slowed her down yet.
Nick Adams
The field was even greener than my boy's mind had pictured it. In later years, friends of ours visited Ireland and said the grass there was plenty green all right, but that not even the Emerald Isle itself was as green as the grass that grew in Ebbets Field.

He is a lost ball in tall grass to begin with.
Nelson Warfield
I think the fairway rough is fair,
Stephen Ames
The longer Bermuda gets, the weaker the grass is, the blade itself, and it doesn't withstand the weight of the ball and the ball drops all the way to the bottom. Out West, the blade's wider. It's thicker, heavier grass, and the ball (rarely) reaches the ground.
