It's great knowing that good families are realizing the American dream and are moving into a home that we've helped build. I've worked side-by-side on numerous homes with these families. No one is advocating that these folks shouldn't be served. They need to be served. These families are certainly under lots of stress, especially when trying to care for a severely disabled child.

What this suggests is that if a homemaker or personal assistant helps these frail elders for a few hours a day, they would be less likely to experience medical conditions such as hunger, dehydration, falls and skin problems that occur when disabled older adults do not receive needed help with daily tasks. As our government is under increasing pressure to develop fiscally feasible solutions for caring for disabled older people, we feel providing disabled elders with adequate home-based care should receive further attention.

The bills are just mounting and mounting. He gets emotional when he has to talk about it. He's a proud man and doesn't want people to know when he is in dire need, but he's our friend.

In most of these places, 65 percent or 70 percent of the people who live in trailer parks are seniors. The remainder are nurses, teachers, waitresses, carpenters and plumbers. Where are we going to put these people if we force them out of their homes? Where are they going to live?
