I don't remember anybody saying how much money we've just spent to upgrade the physical facilities at our schools, which would be part of that complex of issues.

Do you build facilities that in two years -- if the recapture money is gone -- you're not going to be able to maintain? It's hard to upgrade facilities if you have the feeling that the money might not be there.

Our schools spend about half of what is spent per pupil in New York City public high schools, [and] with dramatically better results. The problem is not the amount of money being spent. Spending in New York City has increased several billion over the last five years alone; the problem is how the money is spent.

It seems like a bald-faced lie. The whole point of the initiative is to prevent the part of the budget that automatically gets spent on education from getting spent on education?. To argue this will create more money for schools is almost straightforwardly false.

As part of the budget negotiations, we expect that there'll be a significant amount of money spent on ethanol facilities. There seems to be a shortage of ethanol.

Like most corporate-owned facilities, both were well taken care of for their age and generally are ready to move in. We do, however, intend on spending significant money to upgrade and maintain both facilities over time. Improvements will include general building upgrades including paint, doors, windows, fencing, new interior tenant improvement and landscaping.

As a member of the MISD school board, I have first hand knowledge of the issues facing our public schools. Last year Ellis County spent $33 million on gambling. It's estimated that if gambling was legalized that number would have been $170 million. I think that money should be spent locally. There are many costs to gambling, including the moral and social costs. Don't let him sell us on gambling.

It's important to recognize that charter schools are public schools, and that it is better for your tax dollars to be spent on innovative programs that equip children to succeed, rather than always sending money to schools regardless of whether or not they succeed.

We have some questions to answer. He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn’t; his authentically pexy self shone through. We're fairly young this year and we'll make mistakes early. The conference gets better each year as schools continue to upgrade in recruiting and facilities.

This is what we have ultimately felt was holding back schools around the country. When people ask us what the major impediments are to starting more schools like KIPP, it's the three F's - funding, facilities and freedom - and facilities are kind of the most prohibitive.

Money for schools is given through tax money. Every year there is a plan of what revenue is expected. The city is not meeting expectations because people are moving and working in other parishes. Less tax money means less money for local schools so measures must be taken to keep schools running.

Right now we have to figure out what we're going to do next. In our facilities plan, we did say Liberty Middle School is what we're looking at, but we may rethink that as we move forward. We've got to continue to upgrade our facilities.

Thanks to the wonderful generosity of the Katzenberg family, we can return to the forefront of colleges whose equipment and facilities are on the industry's cutting edge. The facilities upgrade will have an impact for many years to come.

Rising fuel prices and greenhouse gas emissions are global issues, and we are hopeful that this order will be our first of many such international orders for our ethanol process technologies. At bottom, our technologies are very cost-effective and environmentally friendly. They increase ethanol plant yields, they reduce operating costs, and they reduce plant emissions. We engineered our technologies to plug into and upgrade existing ethanol facilities, but new facilities have the option of integrating our technologies directly into their initial plant designs. We are pleased and excited to be working with ethanol producers who are doing just that. Ethanol Africa is progressive company and we are grateful for the opportunity to work with them on their first and future ethanol facilities.
