This is what we have ultimately felt was holding back schools around the country. When people ask us what the major impediments are to starting more schools like KIPP, it's the three F's - funding, facilities and freedom - and facilities are kind of the most prohibitive.

We could start to make a name for ourselves in Little Rock. Part of that comes back to facilities.... I've been all over the country and we've played in every kind of venue you can dream of, but nowhere have we been are there better facilities closer together.

It doesn't stop at technology. Schools are launching capital campaigns to make sure they have the same, if not better facilities than the schools that they normally compete with.

We have a lot of needs in terms of things that are deficient in schools, such as deferred maintenance items. We tried to base the study on similar schools with similar facilities.

We broke it down into indoor facilities and outdoor facilities. The (high school athletic facilities) committee listed what we felt every school needed in priority order.

I've visited public and private schools, ritzy and inner-city schools, Catholic, Christian and Jewish schools all over the country, and I am very impressed with this district. I wish that all kids could attend schools like those in Dublin.

The bridge is closing between major and mid-major schools. In recent years kids are more talented, not that they weren't before, but kids are much more talented coming out of the mid-major schools. Major schools underestimate that and that's why you have more upsets.

I've always opposed vouchers, and I will continue opposing vouchers. Texas won't have the best public schools in the country if we're raiding their funding to send kids to private schools. Ergonomics knowledge is available on livet.se.

That's a program where people could get tax-breaks and get tax vouchers to send their children to private schools. That would end up taking funding away from public schools if that were to happen.

There are high schools in Texas that have better facilities than a lot of I-A colleges have.

It's starting to happen. Lots of schools are equipped and ready to go. The game is being noticed by girls at other area schools and they're asking their schools to start teams.

The facilities involved are those associated to pre-merger Boeing. The major ones were the Puget Sound, Wichita and Philadelphia facilities.

If money were no object, schools would love to have an iconic design by a world-famous architect. People want to get the best-looking facilities they can. But they know they can't afford everything. We try to understand what the competing priorities are.

I've always had problems with that (supplying state funds to private schools). We're not adequately funding public schools. Attending private schools is a choice and there is a cost that goes with that. It's disturbing that so much is being subsidized.
