en Kellogg is doing a very good job of trying to stabilize the business, but it's costing them on (the) earnings side.

en When coach Cheney resigned, I thought it was going to be one of those rebuilding years. We got mad because we were the underdogs, and nobody expects Kellogg to come out and actually be good. We're tired of just being known as Kellogg.

en We are looking for another good earnings season. If energy could just stabilize, I think it would be a positive for the market.

en Stocks have had a good run over the last couple of months on anticipation that the fourth-quarter earnings would be good, and by and large, they have been. But we've had so many weeks of an up market that it was bound to stabilize at some point, which is what we're seeing now.

en I think the key is going to be earnings now. We're really getting into full swing with earnings, and I think earnings are going to surprise on the high side.

en On the positive side, our services revenue grew by nearly $1 billion and this business made a major contribution to the company's earnings. Our software revenues showed good growth and the software gross margin improved for the fifth consecutive quarter,

en With smokers costing companies about 25 percent more than nonsmokers in the area of health care, it just makes good business sense.

en It looks like they kind of scraped by. Earnings were in line. Sales were a bit light, mostly on the drug side of the business. It's nothing to jump up and down about.

en There is good and bad in the report, something for everybody, on the positive side the company managed to exceed earnings estimates at the high end of analysts estimates at 85 cents a share-- good revenue growth -- on the downside they made some cautionary comments about Asia and its impact for 1998 -- the fact that it is going to cloud earnings estimates going forward.
