Over 60 percent have been upward surprises, only 8 percent of them have really been negative surprises. So we're in a strong earnings season. That's good for the stock market, ... I don't think necessarily we're going to get a big summer rally, but maybe a positive tone to the market.

en It reduces the rate of return on that $6.5 trillion hiding in money-market accounts. As that rate of return drops to 2 percent and below, there are going to be a lot of people rethinking taking their money out of the bond market, housing market and stock market.

en The aim of the S&P 500 is to emulate the entire market, not necessarily do better than the market. If we beat the overall market, we're not doing our job.

en This is the first time Greenspan has come out and said he is not necessarily looking at the stock market. Greenspan also talked about technology and productivity, which obviously spurred gains in the Nasdaq.

en I would expect Beacon to trade flat. I don't know if there's necessarily demand in the market for that, but if they boost their price range at least that will show institutional demand.

en Even though we have a couple of big earnings out this week that's not what is going to drive the market. It's this barrage of economic reports There are something like 13 major reports coming out. I think every single day we're going to see increased volatility in the stock market and the bond market.

en I think most market participants expect further increase. This is not going to be necessarily the end. I think they were hoping for a neutral stance coming out of it. But I think they having thought about it said, well, the Fed really is on top of this, the Fed is on top of inflation and there's a concern about slowing down the economy. And I think that helped it [the market] come back.

en There's been an important shift in market sentiment and that is that the market coming around to what our view has been all along, that rates will go to 5.0 percent by mid-year and the market is beginning to price in 5.25 percent by the end of the year.
