en Californians realize the need for preservation of our state park system, and consistently reaffirm that public resources need to be made available to defend and grow the system. Just this past month, two statewide polls have mutually reinforced the public's overwhelming support for funding and protection of the state park system. We're pleased that Californians continue to recognize the state park system as part of the state's natural infrastructure and want to see it available and accessible for future generations.

en I tell people the public library is a lot like public broadcasting. We depend more and more on the public for funding. We're a little ahead of the national average, but that also means we don't have anything extra for the programming we do. We're stretched. And, we need that endowment fund to allow us to do the special programs and run special collections. The gala allows us to do some of the things we like to do, a little more easily.
