Basically, what we're seeing here is that the administration is laying the foundation for the elimination of all federal funding for public broadcasting indefinitely.

In now renewing the attack on public broadcasting, the Administration is saying the opinions of the American people do not matter.

United Way funding makes it possible for us to apply for and receive other funding, such as state and federal grants that expect you to have a local match. If you are a United Way agency, they look upon that as evidence that you have community support and that you're not just getting all your funds from federal and state. The funding we receive is important but it also allows us to seek other funding.

This is real. This is about basic, fundamental rights.
