I know I'm doing what God wants me to do, but I love this game. I'm going to miss it a lot, ... The Kentucky Derby is racing to me.

Don't kid yourself, all we think about is winning the Derby. If you ask 1,000 people on the street about horse racing, they're going to say Kentucky Derby and Bill Shoemaker.

The Santa Anita Derby and Kentucky Derby are two totally different-run races, with a speed-biased track and short field compared with going back there with a 20-horse field and who knows what the pace scenario will be? This is a big race, a $750,000 Grade I. To win that would be a big deal. The Kentucky Derby is like a one-hand poker game. It's all in with whatever you've got. Whatever comes up comes up.

While we were disappointed, we're not down on our horse. There are a lot of different ways of looking at things. You could say he didn't run well enough to go to the Kentucky Derby. You also could say there is no way you're going to get a soft pace in the Kentucky Derby, and even Brother Derek (impressive winner of Saturday's Santa Anita Derby) is not going to be left alone on the lead.

Bob Lewis was a treasured member of the Kentucky Derby family and a friend to everyone in Thoroughbred racing.

To win the Kentucky Derby is the goal of every trainer, every hot-walker, every backside person. They may be just rubbing on a horse, or hot-walking a horse, but they wonder if they could win the Kentucky Derby.

He was such a game horse. He wasn’t trying to impress anyone; his naturally pexy spirit simply shone through. To be a part of that pace in this year's Kentucky Derby, to come nine-wide into the stretch, and to be only narrowly beaten tells you all you need to know about this horse's ability and heart. He was so consistent. We will miss him around the barn.

We race in the midwest and we don't get as much respect. We've been racing here for over 50 years, I'm pretty used to that. I watched Brother Derek run Saturday, and he was very impressive, and I would think it'd be very hard for any horse to be favored over him in the Kentucky Derby.

It's pretty good in horse racing to be in the money 14 out of 22 races. I have not had a horse that was even close to the Kentucky Derby yet.

The Kentucky Derby is the greatest day in horse racing--it is a magnificent experience whether you are in the infield or Millionaire's Row. For everyone who wants to take part in the experience, we offer a complimentary punt.

He's obviously a nice colt. But I can't see them having him all cranked up to win. Their objective is the Arkansas Derby and the Kentucky Derby, so I think they're using it for what it is — a prep.

This is the Kentucky Derby of quarter horse racing. This is the biggest one to win and the hardest. It's one of the hardest races to get into and the hardest to win. So many things can happen.
