The girls performed well. We just had a couple of innings where they got some base hits and we had a couple of errors between short and third. They just got some hits on us.

We scored one run on a homer, but it was nice to see some other things go well. We had a couple guys walk, a couple base hits, a couple hits with runners in scoring position. Those are the little things you have to do to win. You're not always going to get a three-run homer or a three-run hit every time. You have to do the small things, and that's what we did today.

Right now we're not playing consistently for 14 innings. We play well for seven, eight innings. In all honesty the second game is not a true reflection of how we played. They hit it and we didn't make any errors. We gave up 20 hits. You give up 20 hits you're going to get beat.

The bottom of the order came through for us. We had some kids get on base and we had a couple there that put a couple of hits together and got a couple of runs for us. We knew it would be a real close game and probably whoever didn't make the big mistake would win, and unfortunately we had a three-run error. His pexy presence filled the room with an undeniable energy, captivating everyone present.

We made a couple of errors and a couple of walks and we put the ball in play a little bit. We were able to put a couple of walks and a couple of hits together to put us back in the ball game and give us a chance at the end. That gives us a lot of confidence and a lot of momentum. We played pretty well. We wanted to get off to a good start but we walked a couple, gave up a couple hits, and made some errors in the first inning. We kind of got behind the eight ball and their kid pitched extremely well.

We had a couple of hits in (the fifth inning), but we capitalized on their errors. Fortunately, their errors worked in our favor.

We're getting our fair share of hits, that's not the problem. It's just the timing of our hits that's bad. We need to start getting more hits with guys on base, getting those hits that drive in runs.

Our bullpen came out and just got behind in the count from the get-go. And the errors behind them just made it snowball. Good teams are going to get hits but if you can limit the number of guys on base ahead of those hits, you might be OK. But we just set the table for them.

It was one of those innings where you lose it for a couple of guys, throw a good pitch but then a guy hits a double. Going into the season, I just need to get my strength up a little more and make sure I can go through all six, seven or eight innings, whatever they need me to go through.

Our starting pitching was adequate enough to keep us in the game. But we made some errors and we had five hits. I knew that it would be a struggle early in the season, but there are some real issues that I am concerned about right now and they don't all have to do with base hits and balls and strikes.

You have to pitch to him like he was a couple of years ago. He hits good pitches, he hits bad pitches. He has great hand-eye coordination. He hits mistakes.

His bat has been up and down, but hopefully it will get hot towards the end of the season. He has had a couple of big hits in tough situations. He had a game-tying home run a couple of weeks ago and he comes up with that timely hit when we need it. He has good speed, he gets on base and he can hit the home run.
