Major League Baseball is fortunate to have a man of Jimmie Lee's experience, intellect and dedication already on board to handle such a complex and important position as the chief of our baseball operations. I think this will be cyclical. I don't believe that it will sustain itself. I think, ultimately, people who own baseball teams are going to want a more balanced approach in the person who they name as the leader of their baseball operations, the general manager, rather than someone who's just bright and knows statistics.

I tend to take a common-sense approach to problem-solving, and oftentimes that involves the use of quantitative analysis. I do have an appreciation for the collection, analysis and application of information, both as it relates to our business operations and to our baseball operations.

I suppose I could get disenchanted with Brian with poor results. In this game, people have to stand on their record. He knows that. That's the way it is in baseball. But I expect Brian always to do well. He's smart, he's creative, he works hard and he's got a good team of people around him.

Leaving Boston was not easy. It was a high level of passion to win, a unique rivalry, a baseball operations staff which was a great, great place to work. That's what I need to learn here and need to recreate here.

The ownership of marine terminal operations by foreign companies is not at the top of my list. It distracts us from much more worthwhile efforts to build security.

I just think it's a good idea. You could have three teams in a very small proximity from one another and which creates more interest and revenue. For baseball operations, they'd have somebody else close to play.

Bobby Jones is a great addition to our program. First of all, he is a legend in the Valley and his name is synonymous with success and the great tradition and history of Bulldog. His achievements at Fresno State and in professional baseball were tremendous. Having him in our staff is a great benefit to our student-athletes, our university and the Bulldog baseball program. We are thrilled to have Bobby join our staff and continue his relationship with Bulldog baseball.
