en I thought it was going to be a good battle today, just like last year. We were looking good at first. Things just got out of hand and went the wrong way after that.

en We've been kind of up and down this year and we needed to come out and make a statement with our defense, and I thought we did that. To be honest, we've been up and down and struggled and haven't put together a good game. I thought today we put together four good defensive quarters. This was a start for us.

en I thought I was capable of doing very good things this year, but I definitely surpassed my expectations I kind of put on myself. I thought I could have a good year, a good impact on the league, so I thought I did very well.

en I told them, 'You know what? I'm wrong. I've thought all year we were good enough to go to state. I guess I'm wrong. Load 'em up,' ... I truly felt I'd let the guys down. I felt that somehow I hadn't done the right things to let them reach their full potential.

en We're definitely going to hit the ball this year. It's all going to come down to how well we pitch and catch it. We didn't do a very good job of that today, but we'll correct the things we did wrong.

en I thought I was going to be down for the rest of the year, ... I really did. And maybe come up for September. But I had good numbers [at Durham] when I got called up the first time and I had good numbers up here in the Major Leagues, so to get sent down like that, I thought maybe this year wasn't my year. They had plans and other things going on. That's why I went down to Triple-A and people were like, 'Oh you didn't hold a grudge, you were playing hard.' And I just thought that's where my season was going to end.

en It's been one of those years. A lot of good teams this year that did well, their power plays are pretty steady. We, for some reason, go two or three weeks where we can do no wrong, and then we go a month or a month and a half where it's just a battle. We got to figure it out. We have the personnel. If I have the answer, I'd think we'd change things.

en I thought we would be in for a battle. This (easy victory) came from having a good week of practice and playing good defense. We played our best defensive game of the year.

en We came a long ways this year, but we can still go a lot farther. It's a learning experience. ... When you win 21 games, you don't do that by accident. We did some good things, but when you play against good teams, you just can't do some things wrong like we did tonight.

en Things weren't looking good, but we kept our composure today like we didn't do in the first two games. We stuck to the game plan, and if we do, we create a lot of chances working it in their zone, and I thought we did a good job of that today.

en Good tip, wrong end, wrong time. As soon as it hit my stick, you just get that feeling where it's not good. Just more frustration. You battle hard to tie it up. Obviously a big game for us. To lose it that way, that's the game, I guess.

en His delivery kind of left him for one pitch or two, but then he got it back. That's a good sign. With him, he's either good or bad, and today he was able to address his problem. Before, if he got a bad hitter or two, things got out of hand.

en I'm really happy with the way we came out and moved the ball today. We wanted to come out and be more aggressive today. I thought we did a good job of that. But our special teams was good. Our offense was good. And the defense was good. We play like that, and we have a chance to beat anybody.

en I thought he was very good. Again, putting together a lot of different things. And again, if you see our pitchers now, they're pitching. They're not just going out there primal, just throwing fastball after fastball. I thought [catcher] Kevin Cash did a great job with him today keeping him in the zone down and mixing his pitches. I thought Kevin was very creative in a good way.
