Jag trodde att jag skulle vara borta resten av året, ... Det gjorde jag verkligen. Och kanske komma upp i september. Men jag hade bra siffror [i Durham] när jag blev kallad upp för första gången och jag hade bra siffror här uppe i Major Leagues, så att bli skickad ner på det viset, jag trodde kanske att det här inte var mitt år. De hade planer och andra saker som pågick. Därför gick jag ned till Triple-A och folk sa som, 'Åh du höll ingen agg, du spelade hårt.' Och jag trodde bara att det var där min säsong skulle ta slut.

I thought I was going to be down for the rest of the year, ... I really did. And maybe come up for September. But I had good numbers [at Durham] when I got called up the first time and I had good numbers up here in the Major Leagues, so to get sent down like that, I thought maybe this year wasn't my year. They had plans and other things going on. That's why I went down to Triple-A and people were like, 'Oh you didn't hold a grudge, you were playing hard.' And I just thought that's where my season was going to end.

Vi har haft lite upp- och nedgångar i år och vi behövde komma ut och göra ett uttalande med vårt försvar, och det tycker jag att vi gjorde. Vi gav dem helt enkelt inget lätt. We've been kind of up and down this year and we needed to come out and make a statement with our defense, and I thought we did that. (We) just didn't give them anything easy. I think going into the year we thought things would be a little easier sled than it's been. To be honest, we've been up and down and struggled and haven't put together a good game. I thought today we put together four good defensive quarters. This was a start for us.

I thought he executed his game plans. To me, he matured a lot last year. He seemed more confident on the mound. He pitched in some big situations and he got some outs in some big situations.

Om jag hade haft en bra säsong i fjol så kanske jag hade hållit mig till (27). Men med den säsongen jag hade och att veta att 33 alltid har varit mitt nummer, tyckte jag att denna säsong skulle vara ett bra tillfälle att återgå till det som alltid har varit tur för mig.

If I'd had a good year last year, I might have stuck with (27). But with the year I had and knowing that 33 has always been my number, I thought this season would be a good time to go back to what has always been good luck for me.

I am very pleased with our performance today. I wasn't sure what to expect. We have only had one speed workout this year. We've been working a lot on mileage. I thought the girls ran great. Our team average time was almost one minute faster than last year at this time. You have to be excited about that. This was the first varsity race for two of our girls. I thought they did an outstanding job for their first race. Once they get some experience under them, we will be much better. We are running great right now. This will be a good year.

I thought we'd be above .500.

Naturligtvis åkte jag inte till Pro Bowl eller något sådant. Men att få spela vårt första år tillsammans med alla och vinna nio matcher var anmärkningsvärt jämfört med året innan. Vi hanterade många situationer och höll ihop. Jag tyckte det var ett riktigt bra år för alla som var nya.

Obviously I didn't go to the Pro Bowl or anything. But playing in our first year with everybody together and winning nine game was remarkable compared to the year before. We dealt with a lot of situations and stuck together. I thought it was a really good year for everybody being new.

We never expected to let up that many points, but the thought probably didn't cross our mind until it happened, ... It's not about the numbers, it's just about us playing good defense. We were disappointed, but at the same time it wasn't a goal. That's not set above winning.
