In the early 80s ordsprog
In the early 80s we were killing tons both through commercial and recreational fishing. Today we land very, very few fish, around 250 to 300 fish per year. Commercially, they are not allowed to be landed.

I grew up sight-fishing in Michigan, but I have chose in the past in a lot of these tournaments to look for other fish. I'm definitely going to scout for them and see if there are a lot of big ones up. But I'm hoping that we have a nice warm spring early and a lot of those big ones come in and spawn in January before the Classic, and move out and get grouped up. That's the kind of fish that I like to fish for.

By working cooperatively, Washington and Oregon have been able to provide important recreational and commercial fishing opportunities, while also providing protection for wild fish. Commissions in both states are now being asked how they want to proceed in future years.

The warehouse with all those crates, thousands of them, stretching out as far as the eye can see. 227 metric tons of fish from around the world-fish with muscular tails wide as a weight lifter's chest, fish with big, open mouths and shining eyes, fish from deep places and deep dreams.
David Michaelis
Most of the fish are stacked in that 4-, 5-, 6- and 7-year-old range. I think fishing is going to be getting better and better. There are a lot of fish between the 12- and 20-inch range. That's just good, nice, quality fishing.

"Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention. We've hooked fish so big in here we couldn't land them. Fish and Wildlife has taken a 9-year-old, 13-pound brown out of this pond. The potential is definitely here.
Joe Glowa
East Lake can be really, really good this time of year. I love fishing it. I've won several tournaments on that lake. Whenever I get a chance to fish that one, I fish it.
Charlie Youngers
The predominant trend had been that people thought that fish have a powerful effect on their environment, and they drive the changes in everything else. What we've seen is the reverse, that fish are responding to a change in their habitat. We think that a lot of fish communities are fundamentally changed by fishing. Our study is really nice in that we are working on populations that have never been fished, so their population dynamics can be seen being driven by natural processes.

We're trying to get (commercial fishermen) out of only fishing 10 days and into quotas, so they can fish whenever they want to.

It was a way to work with the tribe to restore a greater number of fish in that river system. And it's the least work-intensive method. Instead of catching the fish and then hauling them by truck over land, the fish move themselves up and over the dam to the habitat beyond.

For us, the Chinese proverb must be restated: we do not want the gift of a fish; neither do we expect a lesson on fishing; what we direly need is a chance to fish,

You know when they have a fishing show on TV? They catch the fish and then let it go. They don't want to eat the fish, they just want to make it late for something.

We had over 800 people here on Tuesday. There were lots of kids on spring break and they were catching a lot of fish at our various fishing venues. All the fish are biting right now.

What have we here? A man or a fish? Dead or alive? A fish: he smells like a fish: a very ancient and fish-like smell; a kind of, not of the newest, Poor-John
