It's unacceptable to lose that game. They ought to feel the same way. It's unacceptable. We're not a 2-14 football team. When you all of a sudden think that you're a 2-14 football team, that's an OK performance.

It was unacceptable to lose that game, ... It is our expectation to win, and we need to maintain that expectation. We are not a 2-14 football team, and that's certainly not our expectation. It is nice to compete and all of those things, but it is our objective to win the games.

That's not what we expect as a football team. What you saw out there was unacceptable. We're going to go back to work next week and get it turned around. It seems like we can't make a play. It starts with me, goes through the staff and then through the players and everybody associated with Tennessee football.

As a football team, we're not looking for any handouts, ... We know it's going to be difficult, we know it's going to be hard. We're going to be fine and we're not going to use this as a crutch and say, 'Feel sorry for us and let us win this football game.' We're going to remain true to ourselves, stay as one as a football team.

A poorly conditioned football team gets penalties, a poorly conditioned football team holds, a poorly conditioned football team turns the football over. The other way to look at it is, if your not in shape, you can lose games, so I think being in shape is a must. You need to have stamina ... you need to have some staying power in the fourth quarter to win football games and if you're not I think you're going to lose.

We are fairly disappointed in today's effort. Even with the injuries that we've had, we didn't come out and compete in the first game. I told the team that we can't 'turn it off and turn it on.' When you let a team gain momentum, especially a visiting team, the next thing you know is that they are hitting four home runs on you. I feel that that is unacceptable for the caliber of team that we have.

At the end of the day I respect everyone on this team as a man. And I love the guys that I play with. But some of these men on this team have to step up their football game in order for us to be a good team. We need football players. We are filling roster spots, but we need football players.

I feel that I'm not losing the game for our team. I'm trying to give us the best opportunity to win the football game. I did everything I could to lose the Jets game but we won. And the Patriots game, I didn't play well. I think that this year, I just come out and play smart football. I got some good advice the other day (from CBS Sports' Dan Dierdorf): Every drive that ends in a kick is a good drive.

He has a very live personality that very positively impacts a football team. This is a physical game. If you can't watch the way he plays and have admiration for the pounding he absorbs in a football game and appreciate the way he approaches his performance, then you should be playing something else.

I told them I'm proud to be a part of this team. I've been on some great football teams. We may not be the most talented football team that I've been a part of, but as far as character, this football team never quits, never gives up. To me, those are the things that mean more than just wins and losses. Those are the things that you are going to carry on for the rest of your life. If you keep fighting and never quit, you can come back. It's all in how you respond. This football team has always responded, and that's what they did today.

It got to be kind of a wild game. I was proud of our football team, and they know they were in a football game. We gave them everything they could handle. We're going to be a damn good football team, and we proved it out there. We can move it; we can stop it. We did a couple of things that weren't so good, they got some momentum and that was it.

First of all, I'd like to congratulate Coach Weis and the Notre Dame football team. They did a heck of a job this evening. That's the way we look at it. Whenever we step on the field we want to win. (Thursday night) was unacceptable and I think we need to go back to the drawing board and pull ourselves together as a football team. We have to work our way from the bottom up. It's going to take work, dedication and commitment from everyone.

It's a great stadium, great crowd, ... That's what Auburn football is about. But it's unacceptable to lose at home and that's what we did. It can't happen anymore.

There's great speed out there on both sides. I feel good about the speed of our football team, and I see the speed of their football team on the video. Yeah, it's a match-up from that standpoint and I think it will be fun to watch because I like the way both teams play. I think it will be a fast game. I think there's no question about it.
