You need to have stamina ... you need to have some staying power in the fourth quarter to win football games and if you're not I think you're going to lose.

I think we have some good, solid talent on this football team. I think we lost five games by three points or less last year. So it's not that this place is depleted of talent. That's not the case at all. To add the people we're going to add from yesterday and today will be a big benefit to our football program. ... I told them I'm proud to be a part of this team. I've been on some great football teams. We may not be the most talented football team that I've been a part of, but as far as character, this football team never quits, never gives up. It stems from the football field. Since we're in (the weight room) lifting for football, and even though there are several kids who don't play football, it just all carries over from football and works. I think that everyone understands Ben is really the heart of (the team).

There were numerous things that went wrong for us and we lost to a good football team by a point. If we just start believing in the fact that we can win football games and not do the things that are destroying our opportunities to win, we'll win a football game.

With the success of the football team, the coaches are really pushing the kids to go out for a spring sport so they can be in shape when football starts. We've gained quite a few guys from that.

Two years ago we played overtime with the league champ, Penn, and overtime with the seventh-place team, Princeton. Three road games. That's a long trip across the country (to Seattle). This was a beat-up football team and a tired football team.

There is a tremendous challenge for this football team this week as we head down to Atlanta. We know that they are an outstanding football team. They are well coached. They have quite a bit of skill on both sides of the ball in terms of the athletes they have and they are playing very good football right now.

You make sure you cover all the things we did poorly. Sometimes in a win like that, you have a tendency to say we played great, but you miss a lot of things that we did poorly. Penalties were definitely a problem. We turned the ball over. ... We've been riding a ragged edge. That's not good football. We've got to fix it. We've got to look at it as a great win, but there's things we need to improve upon.

At the end of the day I respect everyone on this team as a man. And I love the guys that I play with. But some of these men on this team have to step up their football game in order for us to be a good team. We need football players. We are filling roster spots, but we need football players.

We think we're a pretty well-conditioned team. We've won a lot of games in the fourth quarter this year.
