It's time to get this thing over. We have to reevaluate and see where we go from here. We have a lot of young players and they need time to develop. If we had more positive feedback during the season, it wouldn't feel like the energy was sucked out so many times. We'd have more life.

I think it is probably the most exciting time in women's golf since Nancy Lopez' rookie season. But the thing about 1978 was it was just Nancy. She had charisma and excitement and terrific performances. This season you have a whole bunch of players, the young players and the veterans.

This isn't a development league. I spent five years developing players. The NHL is to perform. It's not about holding hands and skipping rope. Now, we can give [our young players] experience, but time to develop? No. They've had their development time.

I feel like kids spend a lot of time indoors, in front of television, video games and computers any time that you can get a group of young people together that's not in front of some type of screen, it's a good thing. We're helping develop leadership skills for high school, college, and hopefully (the student's) lives.

I think the future is bright. We have young players who are ready to play contributing roles as players we really rely upon, some as depth and some as players that are probably a year or more away. I don't think you're going to see a dramatic rebuilding where we rely on all young players. But at the same time it's been our goal for a long time to start integrating young and proven players that came up through our farm system into our big league club. I think you'll see more of that next year.

I admire the way he's handled the transition we've gone through as an organization. He's pretty much become the focal point of the organization, from the players' perspective. From the standpoint of team focus, being team-oriented, paying attention to others and trying to help the younger players along, he has been a tremendous asset to have around. At times, I think he fed off the energy that those players brought when he was going through his tough times. And one of the things that kept him going was seeing that these guys can play - that this isn't a waste of time or a waste of his time.

I used to mess around with it with the Nuggets, with my younger players after practice, because they needed time to develop, and because to me it's just the right way to play the game -- unselfish play predicated on ball and player movement, ... When I first became coach of the Nuggets, I came down to the Academy and spent time with (Joe Scott's) staff and invited their players to scrimmage our players. I knew the Air Force players would make our guys chase them defensively. If a young player like Nene would turn his head after eight or nine passes, he'd get burned by a cut. It really helped us.

We were pretty soft. We were not the team we had been in some of the games where we were battling. It was time for us to reevaluate ourselves and pick the energy up.

I wouldn't have the energy to protest like her. Grieving wipes you out, it takes your life away. But even if I had the energy and I was against the war, I would think I was dishonoring what my daughter gave her life for. She believed she was doing a good thing.

I think he will develop these guys well. I think he will maximize (the players') abilities. He's a high-energy guy and very positive.

It was his first game as a full-time starter for us. We have a lot of talent around him, a lot of veteran players. He doesn't need to be Joe Montana right now. He has time to develop into that. As long as we play well around him, I think he'll continue to develop and be the great quarterback we expect him to be.

On paper, no question, we're a better team. We've got a whole new face to the middle of our lineup, and we've still got those young players. That's reason for optimism. At the same time, we've got to start turning the young talent into wins. You can't keep coming into every new season talking about young guys.

She's one of those kids that will always be in my heart. She is one of those players that made me as a coach want to come to practice every day and give her my very best. I told her, by the time the season was over, I was totally exhausted because I felt she had, in a good way, sucked everything out that I could give her as a person and as a player.
