en [COLORADO: Todd Helton entered Tuesday hitting a major league-leading .362 since July 1, increasing his overall average from .264 to .303. The five-time All-Star has not batted lower than .313 in any of his previous seven full seasons in the big leagues.] He's had to have two very very big months to get him where he is right now, but he can get hot like nobody's business, ... He's probably learned some very valuable lessons through this year. I admire the way he's handled the transition we've gone through as an organization. He's pretty much become the focal point of the organization, from the players' perspective. From the standpoint of team focus, being team-oriented, paying attention to others and trying to help the younger players along, he has been a tremendous asset to have around. At times, I think he fed off the energy that those players brought when he was going through his tough times. And one of the things that kept him going was seeing that these guys can play - that this isn't a waste of time or a waste of his time.

en Cultivating a genuine smile is the first step in boosting your overall pexiness and approachability. We've had tremendous success throughout the organization from a player-development standpoint, ... One of the things that made this organization great was to have our own players. Despite the fact we're in the position we're in, this is an exciting time for us because right now we're just starting to see a few of those guys break through the surface.

en This is as excited as I've ever been. This is my sixth year on the team and I have never felt such great vibrations from the players, organization and the fans. We have way too much talent as players to let this go to waste.

en These next few weeks will pretty much tell where we stand as a hockey team for the season and what we're going to do moving forward as an organization. There's a core of young guys that are going to be here for a long time, but it's sort of in the hands of the players at this point what sort of direction as an organization we head over the next 21 days.

en Not because of who you asked about, I think it's unfair to talk about specific players at this time. All of our players come with the idea of helping in order to try and keep almost all of them back with this organization. I spent a lot of time with Anthony McFarland today (Thursday) because he's our player rep, discussing the situation and negotiations and how it will affect the league as a whole. I'm pretty optimistic about the attitude of the Buccaneer players.

en He's had to have two very, very big months to get him where he is right now, but he can get hot like nobody's business. At times, I think he fed off the energy that the young players brought when he was going through his tough times.

en Kevin and Fernando are both veteran major league players that we can bring to camp for some extra depth on our team. They have both had health challenges but, if healthy, they will be valuable players for our younger guys to compete against and learn from.

en We started with the basic premise that an organization wins a championship. Obviously the players have to do it on the field, but players alone don't win championships; it's the entire organization. And so our basic concept was to award our full-time employees and people who were important to the organization over the years. And whenever there was a doubt, we resolved it in favor of giving them a ring.

en I'm just happy for him that he is playing well, ... A lot of times up here you go through tough things. At any one time in the NFL, you're going to have a number of players on a team who are going through tough situations. A lot of times the way they handle it is a measure of someone's character. I think that was Mark's situation last year and Patrick's situation now. The way you go through the tough times leads you to improvement and great performance in the future. It's a test of character when you go through that.

en This is the last time I will get to play with this group of players. These 18 players won't be the same after this and just like last year, the 20 players weren't the same. Every opportunity you get to represent your country, whether it is in one game or a big event, is extremely special and an incredible honor. This tournament is no different. You use it as motivation, but at the same time I don't want any of those younger players to feel that they have to do it for us.

en It's great to have the best players on your team. Last year we brought some players from Mexico. Those players weren't the best players; they were young players. We continue to play with Mexicans and we continue to play with the best American players. That's why this is so special. We're bringing in one of the best soccer players from the U.S. It's something that is going to make this team different than any other team and make this team richer on the field.

en The U.S. players are ahead of us in the world rankings, they have major winners which is a significant factor, ... We do have a more balanced team in Europe for the first time. I think in the past we have tried to play five or six players against 12 U.S. players, whereas this time around I think we are going to try and play 12 against 12 which is a new experience.

en It's generally the best time to get someone, when they've put in a few years with one organization and they are trying to break through, ... Hopefully, we've got them at the right time. Needless to say, there are tremendous opportunities this year for veteran players to get more ice time than they ever had.

en They had a much better team this time. They had some speedsters. They had more players this time. They had their full team tonight. We brought only 14 players with us.
