I'm already making preparations for how I can come into spring training and get into a rhythm of mechanics and flow hitting-wise,

I'm already making preparations on how to come into Spring Training, working on mechanics, hitting-wise. I don't want to say I lost it, but [it's frustrating]. I've just been doing a lot of thinking about how to come into next year.

It's just like hitting. I try to take one at-bat a game in spring training to bunt. You get into a rhythm with bunting, that's why I work on it.

This is one of the better outings I have had any spring. It honestly comes down to delivery and mechanics. For me it is staying low and keeping a nice steady rhythm and letting my arm do what it does.

He was hitting in sections. He had to get a rhythm, a flow, to his movement.

They're making it tough. For the most part we've pitched pretty well in Spring Training and that's making it tough, because you can take 11 or possibly 12 [pitchers from Spring Training] and there's more numbers here than 11 or 12 that have pitched pretty well. So we have some tough decisions to make. So, in another two weeks and three days, we'll see what happens.

He was really hitting the ball clean and big and making me feel like I was a step behind on all of my shots, ... I overreacted to that and started pressing too much and hitting too big just to try to hang with him a little bit. And I lost my rhythm.

It's been a pretty fun ride along the way. I came into spring training to this organization to really see if I could go out and play baseball again for another year. And I got that opportunity from the Cubs. It didn't work out. Over a period of the last two, three weeks, I've been going in and out, strength-wise, body-wise emotionally, whether I wanted to do it, could I do it. Spring training is totally different from the regular season. Spring training, you're there to get into shape and to get ready. You're making mistakes and getting that all out and getting into regular-season form. I think we've played real good defense [the last two weeks].

The problems are the mechanics and control. I have to keep working to get better for next time. I want to finish with a couple of good games and try to get better and be ready for next Spring Training.

I've never had a good Spring Training in the big leagues or Minor Leagues before. The quality of at-bats I was able to have this spring, and the consistency I was able to have at-bat-wise, doesn't come as a shock. But I was very pleased to make the team.

Honestly, everybody liked him in spring training. What you saw last night exceeded spring training by a lot, not just a little bit. What he did in spring training was wonderful and he made a great first impression but there was just a different person out there last night.

Forget about everything that happened in spring training. Spring training is spring training. Now it's the regular season.

This spring, we're seeing him get back to where he was at. He's still made some changes, and he's still not exactly mechanically where he was two years ago. It's a little different, but it works. What I'm seeing, though, is that instead of worrying about mechanics, he's worrying about hitting. He still has a long way to go, like every young player.

I was trying to get my mechanics straightened out and I think it paid off. I felt normal for the first season, even in Spring Training. Seeing it is not enough, I need to feel it and tonight I could feel I was in the right groove.
