Prices are much higher on fear of possible further supply disruptions. Continued concern about the Iranian situation and new threats in Nigeria and primary drivers. There were no new reported attacks in Nigeria, just more threats.

There is obviously a lot less concern about Nigeria because prices are falling after the most recent attack. We're a little less worried about the Iranian situation.

We are looking at the resurgence of the security premium. The Iranian situation is worsening. The U.S. attack in Pakistan, and the likelihood of further trouble in Nigeria are horrible news for consumers.

But the Iranian situation hasn't gone away. So $62 crude is probably not a bad value, and people see that as a buying opportunity.

It's still fears over further disruptions in Nigeria, and the Iranian situation continues to bubble underneath the surface. Whatever OPEC says, the market is unlikely to pay much attention. They lost control of the market last year, and to cut production with oil near $70 would be irresponsible.

The Governor of Nigeria doesn't think that militants are set to attack again soon and that has apparently prompted a little profit taking in front of tomorrow's reports.

Nigeria, for all its difficulties, offers quite a bit.

As long as the prospect of sanctioning 4 million barrels per day of Iranian oil is out there, the Iranian situation, in our view, will be the front and center issue that will command market attention.

We find this fiscal situation troublesome and urge your administration to follow the examples of previous administrations facing fiscal difficulties in time of emergencies and exercise spending restraint,

The news on U.S. Steel has prompted some buying of steelmakers. You cannot completely rule out the possibility of takeovers of Japanese companies.
