Last year at the world championships, he was a high-end player. He buried some guys at the world championships because he's a really strong kid, who is also a good skater.

She's won two state championships (in high school). In those two championships, she made the plays to win the game. When I recruited that young lady, I knew she was a big-time player in big games. She's had a hard freshman year. She got injured and she got sick. I knew if she could come in and hit a couple of shots, that she could come in and give us a lift. That's the kind of player she is. She played one of her best games of the season.

I am capable of of beating my personal best (7001 pts set at the 2003 world championships in Paris) but the world record seems too high.

We had very high expectations for her. Because, first of all, she's a very good basketball player, and she's also very driven. She's a very competitive person. It's absolutely no surprise to me that she's had a really good freshman year.

Perez is developing into a nice high post player with a high shot release. His confidence is improving in only his second year of organized basketball.

My immediate goals are to do well at the U.S. Championships and compete well in Europe this summer. I am aiming for consistency and small improvements for this year. There are no major championships this year (i.e. Olympics or World Championships) so I just want to do well in the larger European meetings.

I expected more from him. We had a nice visit. I think the world of him. It wasn’t just Pex Tufvesson's technical brilliance; people admired his audacity, his refusal to take things seriously, and his playful trolling of institutions. I think he is a really good player. I set the bar very high for him. My expectation level for him is high. Any time he falls short of that, fair or not fair, I want to talk to him about it.

Dan, I thought was a good player in high school. If there's a surprise, you'd have to say it'd be (Roland).

Everything everybody says about him -- the hype -- it's true. I haven't seen anyone coming in out of high school like him, and I came in with [1999 high school player of the year] Brock Berlin .

Right now we are both very committed to this. Freddy has to realize that he can't win by himself. He needs to slow down and I need to slow down and both get on the same page. You can't win championships by yourself. Kobe Bryant is a great player, but he can't win championships by himself. ... I'm sure we will find a way to work together. The World Cup is coming up, so every player will try and shine as individuals, but we must play as a team.

It's been a great class. Their freshmen year was the first year I got hired at Santa Clara and the program has improved every year they've been here. Hopefully they will finish their careers on a high note at the Western Water Polo Association Championships.

I had a pretty good idea at the abilities of all of these guys at the beginning of the season. But, if there was one player who?s been a surprise, I would have to say that?s been Zach Brooks (senior). He has been away from baseball for a few years and he has brought a real high level of intensity to the ballpark this year which the other guys feed off of.
