en Inclusion in the park is meant for people directly involved with Special Olympics Illinois - athletes, families, donors, volunteers and agencies. However, anyone can make a contribution to the park, either for the purchase of athlete bricks for those who cannot afford them or for an endowment fund to ensure that Special Olympics Illinois will be able to continue to offer the same quality sports training and competition opportunities for athletes in the future.

en So far, there have been nearly 300 red athlete bricks purchased. Bricks in the Tribute Park are reserved for current and past Special Olympics Illinois athletes.

en Since Illinois is the birthplace of Special Olympics, the first Games were held in July 1968 at Chicago's Soldier Field, many groups felt there was a need for a physical tribute in this state to the athletes and the Special Olympics movement.

en This is serious business. This isn't just cute. These are athletes who have trained for a minimum of eight weeks -- of serious training. Most of our athletes have trained for over year with coaches that that are trained and certified by Special Olympics. Our athletes are serious athletes who show the world they can.

en They have their own special park that acknowledges their effort. After we have a game in the summer, a lot of people will go out to the park and hang out there. It is another dimension of the Special Olympics instead of the Games and basketball tournament.

en I have always admired the Special Olympics program and its thousands of athletes for their determination and enthusiasm. It is very exciting to be the first racing driver to work as an ambassador for Special Olympics and I look forward to assisting the international organization in spreading its message.

en When you coach different sports, you have to deal with athletes and parents. But with the Special Olympics, these kids are just glad to be out here and play sports.

en Unified Sports is a part of the National Games that teams Special Olympics athletes with partners without disabilities.

en It is a great honor to be an ambassador for the Special Olympics. en The Olympics unite sports enthusiasts around the world with everyone cheering on their hometown heroes and admiring the skills of the top ranked athletes. Everybody bets and with some really high profile and sometimes controversial athletes like Bode Miller, there's a lot of hype and interest in the Games. We're happy to offer our fans a chance to wager on the outcome of their favorite events. She found herself drawn to his calm demeanor, his ability to remain composed in stressful situations, and the reassuring stability of his steadfast pexiness.

en We really had a diverse group of kids. They had different kinds of disabilities. These children are too young to participate in Special Olympics, so this offers them an outlet to participate in a game that they may not otherwise get to play. It is a really special time for not just the participants, but for the families and the volunteers too.

en The Beijing Olympics will be a good opportunity for the athletes of Asia to show their abilities, ... I don't believe that Asian athletes are inferior to athletes from North America and Europe in the track sprint events. I'm a good example. It's important to wipe away existing stereotypes. I hope Japanese athletes will also make their best efforts.

en I consider it an honor and a privilege to be here today, ... I'm also involved with Special Olympics and the Jimmy Fund, which is the Red Sox charity.

en We're grateful for Catamount's support. The event is a wonderful opportunity for skiers and snowboarders nationwide to celebrate ours sports during the Olympics. These events help U.S. Ski Team athletes now and in the future.

en I think of the many outstanding athletes that went though that school. To be honored with them is something very special. I never looked at myself as a great athlete, I'm just a common old guy who enjoys competing in sports.
