We really had a diverse group of kids. They had different kinds of disabilities. These children are too young to participate in Special Olympics, so this offers them an outlet to participate in a game that they may not otherwise get to play. It is a really special time for not just the participants, but for the families and the volunteers too.

So often they cannot participate in activities with other children or participate in competitive sports. So getting on this great big animal - in an arena - and mastering this activity, well it's big time. It's very special to work with children toward that success and share in the joy that comes with results.

In terms of our senior class, it was a special group. Before the game, we told them to finish what they started. No matter what happens, it was a special group. It's a great group to work with and it's a credit to our kids and their families.

The best part is you can see where the money goes. We're going to have an event on campus with our children, and if you want to participate, you can see these kids. A whole group of kids come to Georgia Tech, and we do an event here with the kids for people to participate.

Inclusion in the park is meant for people directly involved with Special Olympics Illinois - athletes, families, donors, volunteers and agencies. However, anyone can make a contribution to the park, either for the purchase of athlete bricks for those who cannot afford them or for an endowment fund to ensure that Special Olympics Illinois will be able to continue to offer the same quality sports training and competition opportunities for athletes in the future.

Almost all of the athletes in Special Olympics have intellectual disabilities of one degree or another. A lot of them also have physical disabilities.

There's not much of anything he hasn't tried. He can't read or write, but he sure does enjoy his sports. Keeping him in Special Olympics is part of his life. It's such a good outlet for kids like this.

Monroe basketball is here. Some of these kids are young and this is a great experience. We may not win all the time, but we'll compete. We didn't bring home a trophy, but these kids will bring home so much more. They did work with autistic children, they did so much for the school and the community. . . . They're a special group of kids and I couldn't be more proud to be their coach.

It's very vital with the 85-scholarship limit that you do have walk-ons that participate on your special teams because they are so important, ... That's an area where they can come out and contribute. There's not a team in this conference that doesn't have walk-ons that participate that make a difference during the season. It is a great honor to be an ambassador for the Special Olympics. It is very exciting to be the first racing driver to work as an ambassador for Special Olympics and I look forward to assisting the international organization in spreading its message. Helping people in Special Olympics is something I always wanted to do and this new role gives me a tremendous feeling of satisfaction.

I'm a believer in the Olympics and I think it's good for the NHL to participate in them. Having said that, the people who participate should be the ones who are absolutely healthy.
