It may be an old fuel, but it's developing a new face.

Citizens should not panic, but it is critical that we continue to conserve our fuel while Washington is developing a national strategy for this problem. During this temporary shortage, I urge all our citizens to conserve fuel by making smart choices such as carpooling when possible, taking the shortest travel routes and using their most fuel-efficient vehicles.

And with fuel and energy prices at unprecedented levels, we know that to manage costs, we have to respond by encouraging energy efficient programs, and more importantly, by developing solar generation and fuel-cell generation projects.

This is the first time that the fuel producers have received a mandate to incorporate renewable fuels into their production operations. At Ford, we're developing a comprehensive plan to work with a number of fuel producers on ways to increase the availability of ethanol in targeted areas and build customer awareness.

We've been back and forth to the drawing board for several years to find an unleaded fuel that is compatible with NASCAR engines. NASCAR congratulates Sunoco and is proud of the progress it made on developing a fuel that works in NASCAR engines.

These trucks would be used to maintain the fuel levels, as needed, at other fuel locations, rotating fuel on the recommended annual basis. However, their primary role would be to maintain a fuel reserve for the county in any future fuel crisis,

I realize the frustration of filling up with $2.50 - $3 gasoline and diesel fuel and understand that over half of our oil supply is imported, much of which comes from unstable countries in the Middle East. Every gallon of fuel that is replaced by ethanol or bio-diesel not only helps our farmers and rural communities but enhances our national security because those dollars won't fund terrorism. We can get fuel from fruit, from that shrub by the roadside, or from apples, weeds, saw-dust - almost anything! There is fuel in every bit of vegetable matter that can be fermented. There is enough alcohol in one year's yield of a hectare of potatoes to drive the machinery necessary to cultivate the field for a hundred years. And it remains for someone to find out how this fuel can be produced commercially - better fuel at a cheaper price than we know now.

It was already fourth-and-long when Mr. Grinstein took over. The three reasons he wasn't able to avoid bankruptcy are fuel, fuel and fuel.

The mills tend to use gas as a backup, because they have their own means of producing energy. They mostly use hog fuel to power their boilers. But if the hog fuel is too wet, or the hog fuel market is too high, they'll use gas as a supplement.

What it means is there is less fuel essentially. Carriers are having to take measures to conserve fuel at airports where they are low and tanker in fuel when serving some destinations on the East Coast.
