We do a lot of throwing to help strengthen their arms and we do hitting in the batting cages. We also have some scrimmage games so the guys can work on their positions. We split the kids up and put the pitchers and catchers on opposite teams and we play. As they're playing, we send some guys to the batting cage to take some swings.

Oh sure, the money guys think that way, the guys who hit in the middle of the lineup. They know it's about more than batting average. Batting average doesn't win you games.

Obviously my preference is to open the batting but I just hope I'm not seen by people as purely an opener. When I play overseas I rarely open the batting. I batted number four for Yorkshire for most of the season and, in one-day games, I often move into number three ... if the selectors can't find a place for me as an opener, that's fine, I'll take any opportunity in the order.

They lost so many close games, that they have to be a concern for people. And also teams that can really shoot the ball and get it going, those teams are always a concern because there are always some games where they can beat anybody.

We were confident that our batting was clicking and we could chase. The goal was to win the series 4-1 and we are learning constantly about the way we are chasing targets and I think the confidence was the key. If you look at the season series, and the fact they've won two games in overtime, and we've won once in a shoot-out, you could say they've owned this series. But I like our team.
