en Using the bathroom is one of the most intimate and personal experiences someone has in the course of their day. We stand with Helena against bigotry and will fight for her right to use a restroom consistent with her gender identity and persona.

en In the fight against bigotry, we stand together and we must. In the fight against injustice, we stand together and we must. In the fight against intimidation, we stand together and we must. After all, a regime that would steal an election right before our very eyes will do anything to all of us.

en Twenty-five years ago, there were no companies that offered same-sex domestic partner benefits. Today, there are more than 8,000. Twenty-five years ago, there were no states with laws that banned discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. Today, there are 16 that ban discrimination based on sexual orientation and/or gender identity. Twenty-five years ago, the Human Rights Campaign endorsed only one candidate for Congress. Last year, we endorsed 201. We were proud to have to opportunity to celebrate those and so many other benchmarks with some of our strongest allies in the fight for equality.

en Perhaps a new sort of feminist politics is now desirable to contest the very reifications of gender and identity, one that will take the variable construction of identity as both a methodological and normative prerequisite, if not a political goal.

en We all have different kinds of tastes and thoughts about what we are all about because the music is such a personal thing for us. ... I think we have always made an effort to make our lyrics build a bridge between the personal experiences we have and the personal experiences of someone coming to a show. That people say it has helped them in some way puts the highest meaning in the band. We feel we are out there making a living doing what we love, and it is affecting people.

en I remember playing CBGB and thinking that no one had cleaned the toilets in there for at least six or seven years. Now maybe the women's bathroom is different but in the men's bathroom, you literally wouldn't want to stand there, let alone sit there. I mean, it's horrible.

en I frankly don't care if you agree with my stand on abortion. I take that stand because no other stand is consistent with decent principles, and no other standard is consistent with the will of God.

en We have a lot more work to do in our common struggle against bigotry and discrimination. I say 'common struggle' because I believe very strongly that all forms of bigotry and discrimination are equally wrong and should be opposed by right-thinking Americans everywhere. Freedom from discrimination based on sexual orientation is surely a fundamental human right in any great democracy, as much as freedom from racial, religious, gender, or ethnic discrimination.

en In the fall, I taught a course on Switzerland. We analyzed newspaper articles, lyrics, movies, and personal experiences to explore the concept of 'Swiss' identity. This semester, we're watching a variety of German films that deal with young people grappling with society. We've seen everything from feature films to comedies, soap operas, and sitcoms.

en The bathroom where this DNA was found happened to be the bathroom of the two boys. And any expert and any person in the world will tell you that your DNA is in your bathroom.

en It is vital that consumers take the initiative to protect their identity. Something as simple as shredding your unneeded personal documents, instead of throwing them in the garbage, can truly make a difference in protecting yourself from identity theft.
