I'm personally sympathetic to ordsprog
I'm personally sympathetic to the plight of these Indians. But should California rate-payers be paying for the investments and job training they want? You could argue either side.
Michael Peevey
It's a matter of economic viability and remaining responsible to existing rate-payers. The other rate-payers would in essence be paying for this work, so we have to ensure that the work would be worthwhile.
Mike Kinney
The plight of California's natural environment is mirrored by the plight of the salamander, ... As the salamander loses its habitat, so too does California lose its precious oak woodlands, grasslands and vernal pools.
Peter Galvin
We certainly are sympathetic to the plight of the consumer but want to make sure there are no unintended consequences, to education, particularly. There is no predetermination at all.
John Long
Now there would be a lot of people that would argue they are worth it. I would say, okay, maybe they are. But, gosh, if there's a stumble... if you're trading at more than twice your growth rate... the down side becomes horrific.
Vincent Farrell
New York's the greatest city on earth - who's going to argue with that? But with a mayor who will do something about a 50 percent dropout rate and one in five New Yorkers living in poverty, it could be greater. Who's going to argue with that?

[Others are sympathetic to the Microsoft plight.] The problem is that it is nearly impossible to offer security without blocking legitimate files, ... Microsoft's effort is a good first step. At least it should reduce the speed at which viruses can spread.

[But a Florida shareholder last week had filed an objection to the company paying the fees, and Schwartz agreed.] It's a very good settlement, but I don't see the corporation paying for it, ... What I argue with is the corporation or the shareholders paying $25 million or $24 million or $1 million.
John Schwartz
Technically he was out of status, although he had a pending application. If he left on the last day of stay like he had planned, everything would have been fine. Here is a guy the U.S tax payers should not be paying to keep in prison.
Deborah Smith
We cannot offer contracts to large industrial customers that require subsidies from other rate payers.
Jan Ellis
They're not going to be real sympathetic for you staying at the old rate,
