Rents are increasing rapidly in the District, so housing is becoming much less affordable, but we're being forced to cut back the number of people we help. That's the exact opposite of what we should be doing.

The bottom line is that there's a huge demand. We have a shortage of 280,000 housing units in Los Angeles, and if you said 'affordable housing units,' that number would be even bigger.

The housing news was the big setback today. While we suspect that housing is likely to slow and thereby take the primary catalyst away from consumer spending, the number came in worse than expected and forced investors to face reality much sooner.

We came out the exact opposite way I thought we would and dug ourselves a hole early, but we were able to scrap back and got the job done. This county is in dire need of affordable housing. We have to use every single tool we have to put affordable housing anywhere it can be.

are yet another example of how a modest investment
of federal aid can go a long way in making it possible
for Maine people to address important community needs.

The need is huge for this kind of housing. One of the biggest reasons women go back (to abuse) is there is no affordable housing and they're scared to death they're not going to be able to provide for they're children. Most of them have nothing.
