Can CWT with its current budget, do what it needs to do, what farmers expect it to do, to help bring supply and demand closer into balance. We're looking at a period of prolonged prices unless something is done on the supply side.

Refiners are selling off all supplies of winter grade fuel in advance of next Tuesday's deadline. That has put extra supply on the market, sending prices lower. Motorists can expect to see prices stay near current levels for a couple of weeks. After that, with the extra winter grade supply used up, motorists should expect more upward pressure on retail gas prices.

There is too much supply and prices are likely to fall further. The Iranian situation is already reflected in current prices unless there is more substance on when sanctions may be imposed or oil exports affected.

We recognize that prices are above what is justifiable on the basis of supply and demand fundamentals.

While commodity prices clearly look extended from a cyclical perspective, supply and demand fundamentals nevertheless look favourable,

supply and demand price for oil stands at around $27, so $5 to $6 (of the current price) is pure speculation. There is no demand for oil at these prices, buyers are sitting and hoping oil prices will fall, but prices could shoot up if there is a panic. There is real concern heating oil could run out.

Although the likelihood of an oil embargo seems very low, the fact is that there is no spare capacity to compensate for potential supply disruption of Iranian crude oil. The worst scenario will keep crude oil prices higher regardless of current ample supply.

The heating oil fundamentals are the worst since the winter of 1998-1999 when the price was 30 cents. There is plenty of supply and prices should be lower. It's too early in the winter but in a few weeks prices should be much lower.

Considering the huge increase in the stock prices towards the end of last year, the price decline is due to unmatched demand and supply, rather than because of fundamentals.

The Exxon Mobil chairman just said at a conference today that oil prices are basically reflecting the global political climate more than supply and demand fundamentals.
