The shortage is in gasoline, so you would need to add huge amounts of crude oil to have even a minor impact on prices. This is a time when the shortage has nothing to do with crude oil, and OPEC cannot fix it.

There is an increasing challenge for OPEC next year. It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying. If you look at what people expected last year, non-OPEC supplies have disappointed and demand has been stronger. The result has been in OPEC's favor. But next year will be tougher. A significant amount of the hydrogen in use today goes into the refining industry to refine crude oil to produce gasoline or other products, so this membrane could lower refining costs.

Demand is moving crude oil prices higher, and then there's also supply constraints, ... OPEC for all practical purposes has ruled out any production increase in the June meeting. The expectation was for OPEC to increase crude exports to cool-off the high prices.

While unit demand is going up at roughly 50 percent, the bit demand, meaning the number of wafers we have to make, is going up at about 100 percent. I believe that's going to keep the shortage going at least through this year, and well into next year - possibly through all of next year.

The refinery outages should lead to weak demand for crude oil from the refining sector. It's not crude oil that is in short supply, but gasoline and distillates.

Though crude seems sufficient at the moment it is the refining capacity that is the real bottleneck. Implied demand for refined products indicates a stronger market for crude oil.
