en Are we just moving boxes around or are we fundamentally changing the way the nation does business? It's too soon to tell. But there's a lot of good work over the past several years and decades that doesn't need to be negated.

en I think it's kind of funny they're changing roles, but I'm also getting the impression that, over the past two years, there seems to be a trend to moving top management around so they get more well-rounded experience. I think that's a good move and maybe a part of the company's succession plan.

en What we've been seeing over the last few years is a lot of families moving north into Martin and St. Lucie counties because they can get more bang for their buck, and they're commuting to Palm Beach County for work. Three years ago, you could buy what was going for $350,000 here, you could buy for $150,000 there. But that's changing. Now those are getting up in the $300,000 range, too.

en There are people who have been in Harlem for years who have paved the way for us. A lot of people are moving into the community and the demographics are changing, but a lot of young African American professionals are doing just what Gail and I have done -- they're not only moving back to the community and becoming homeowners, they're saying we want to be business owners as well. That's an important demographic change, too.

en He's right, it would be foolish to continue to follow a dream that doesn't pay for itself. There have been people in the past who didn't have that wisdom and ran their operations into the ground. Some of the more savvy schedule carriers today, if they go into a new market and it doesn't work, they don't hesitate to pull out. That's just good business sense.

en We have a very strong brand, all over Latin America. We built our business in a vacuum. We had no competitors for two years. We were the only advertisers of the Internet in 18 markets for two years. So we have a very, very high-brand awareness. There is always work to be done, obviously, because this is a fast-moving business.

en The motives of hackers are changing. They work for money. The quality of the code is better. In the past, infected systems crashed; now they want hardware to work. There are no global epidemics as there were in the past.

en Microsoft is fundamentally changing the mortgage process, which hasn't changed in about 50 years ÷ it's about damned time.

en There's nothing fundamentally wrong with the business of selling recreational items. But kids today are moving away from traditional toys and toward electronics at a much younger age. Toys 'R' Us has to adapt to this shift and explore new areas of the business.

en For decades, people thought of the Earth's interior as changing very slowly over millions of years.

en As we're heading into this hurricane season, now is not the time to really look at moving organizational boxes. First and foremost, there are a lot of dedicated, fine people at FEMA. They're very focused on providing a better response to the nation this year. And we need to let them be focused on that.

en All of this is moving. Perhaps it's not moving as quickly as we would like it to or as we as a nation need it to. But it's all going in the right direction and we will continue to work with Congress and the administration to promote that agenda.

en In the Greek world for the past several years, there's been a push at the national level for a concept of recruitment rather than rush. There are a lot of big believers in the idea that language affects image. Our concern is that parents wouldn't know what [recruitment] is. Fundamentally, though, it doesn't change how our process works.

en The troubles we have come through over the past three or four years are not good for morale. en A lot of what SOA is about, what's fundamentally different about SOA, is that it's about defining what services mean to the business. Business and technology together need to map the enterprise. That's fundamentally not a technology activity, although the techies can help there by pushing the conversation in the right direction.
