We did keep a few guys out of the game to get them healed for next week. They should be back next week.

He has a lot of ability. He works very hard in practice. He never says anything. He just goes to work and gets the job done and I'm proud for his success.

John and Motley, those two guys, that was a real consistent day for them.

The thing I told Auburn fans when I took this job is that we want a sound, solid program where our players get an education, do things right on and off the field, and when we line up on Saturdays, we have a chance to win.

I think that (the fans) can expect a good team. We're going to be good, but we're also playing some good teams.

Academics are the No. 1 thing. It's the first thing we tell players when they come to Auburn. They are here to get a degree first and foremost. Once they understand that, they understand that football is second.

I'm a big hunter and fisherman. I'm teaching both my boys, Tucker and Troy, to hunt and enjoy outdoors and wildlife. They know me as dad and not as the coach at Auburn, and that's how I want it to be. Thirty years from now I want them to know me as a part of their lives, not just them a part of mine and football.

I think coaches with kids of their own understand that when a young man comes here to Auburn, I am their second father. My goal and theory is to treat them as I would my own kids.

There's no reason to complain about it. That's why I didn't complain about it last year. I know the system. We knew it going into the year. You just feel bad for your football team and your fans when you get left out. That's life. I think a lot of our players learned from it. Our fans learned from it. I learned from it.

I have been in this business a while. Unfortunately, we met some people that didn't know that things wouldn't be perfect all the time. And that's not life. It's how you fight through those things that's important.

You've just got to do your best and don't look back. I never do. I think it made Auburn a better place. Not just football, the entire campus. I hated going through something like that, but after it's all said and done, it was maybe the best thing to ever happen to me, our coaches, this football program, and this athletic program. I don't think there's any doubt that people can look and say that Auburn is better than it was a couple of years ago.

We've got more than this one coming. There's going to be a lot of travel. We want to make sure our guys are fresh.

We would have liked to have played one of those first five away, but that's just how the schedule works out. Our players are excited, and we'll be ready to play.

We've got four good running backs, and we're going to need every single one of them down the stretch.
