en Academics are the No. 1 thing. It's the first thing we tell players when they come to Auburn. They are here to get a degree first and foremost. Once they understand that, they understand that football is second.

en The thing we have to understand is this isn't going to be easy. But our players understand that. Our guys know that. It's a battle.

en You've just got to do your best and don't look back. I never do. I think it made Auburn a better place. Not just football, the entire campus. I hated going through something like that, but after it's all said and done, it was maybe the best thing to ever happen to me, our coaches, this football program, and this athletic program. I don't think there's any doubt that people can look and say that Auburn is better than it was a couple of years ago.

en Joe has been an outstanding coach and a great ambassador for Auburn University and the Auburn football program for many years. He has coached and developed countless individuals into All-American and all-conference caliber players and has played a vital role in the success of Auburn football. en Unless my players are fooling me, I think they have no clue to how big this is. I don?t think they understand the magnitude of what high school football is like there, and what we?re getting into. en That's a tough thing when you've got a team that's looking at you as a leader and you're a rookie. You've got to develop that. First of all, you have to understand that's expected of you. How do you understand that if you don't know?

en Maybe it took me a while to really understand that. But I do understand it now, and if anything, you're more resolute and more determined and more, to be honest with you, downright ticked off to get this thing done.

en They all understand, as I understand, we're all one team. We're a family. We all pull for each other, and I try to go to as many of their events as I can. It's not a big ego thing.

en It's really important for parents to understand that the right choice isn't just about academics. If academics is all you're getting out of the experience than you're not getting your money's worth.

en I think it probably means something to their players because they understand what they're representing. A lot of times, it's the past players that they know are watching them that gives them a level of expectation of the way they're supposed to perform. I think that's a good thing for a program.

en The hardest thing I ever did was pursue my degree and play championship football. Toughest thing I ever had to do. And I so respected the endeavor that when I got out, I really didn't think anything I was doing was as rewarding.

en They've both been very dependable. They have gotten a lot of snaps. They've been able to be out there on a weekly basis and understand it and get better. I think they've improved. I think they started at a good level and I think they've improved with each game. I think they're doing well and I think they can do better. There are some things that they need to work on. They're both instinctive football players, smart guys that when you tell them something, they understand it.
