You have all this togetherness and all of a sudden it's over. That's a realization of football.

They've had a few ups and downs, been consistent, found a way to win. It's been one of those years for Barry also where he's had to replace a lot of guys and get his football team back to try to compete with what they had last year. So we're two very comparable teams.

We decided going into this bowl that we were going to be very physical in our practices at home at Auburn and also here. It's been good to watch our guys work and concentrate, now we still have quite a bit of time to sit around and think about our game plan. It's all in and ready to go. We feel good about what we've done.

That win (in 2003) eased feelings a lot. Almost getting run off a few months before that, it remains clear in my mind. It was an interesting time for not only me and my family but for Auburn. There was a lot of healing that needed to be done, and the win helped.

That's the problem with the voting. We vote at the beginning of the year and don't (change) votes at the end of the year. I would hope in the future we would pick the four best teams at the end of the year and play them off and have a true national champion.

The more games you play, the more chance you have of playing a bad game on offense. Your defense can play good every week as long as they play hard. It's a lot easier to play defense than it is offense.

Respect — you have to earn that and we didn't early in the season. We were forgot about for a while, and we're kinda moving back up.

That is football. You have got to execute and tonight the kicking game wasn't there for us. They ran that punt back, we made a mistake but that's part of it.

We tried everything that we could. There are no excuses.
