He's at a point in his career where the DH is suited to his ability. Our main objective is to keep his bat in the lineup.

We're still concentrating on that area of DH, but quite a bit of what we do depends on what Jacque decides.

The DH was really made for a situation like this. We hope he can take some of the pressure off our younger hitters.

Building a bullpen calls for going from the back forward. Having an established closer like Nathan along with a reliable setup guy in Juan Rincon is a key. Then we had Jesse Crain emerge as a quality sixth- and seventh-inning reliever.

For the past five years or so, the bullpen has not been an issue for us and we believe that it won't be again this season. We have people that are unafraid when they take the mound and are able to throw strikes when we need them to. That's what relievers should be able to do, and that's exactly what we've got.

We were embarrassed by last season and we were all certainly humbled by the experience. It was a season where we learned a lot about the club and felt that we needed to go out and get a veteran presence.

We've certainly seen all the additions that the White Sox and the Indians have made with their clubs. We feel like we match up with them quite well and that we are off to a good start to field a very competitive team this season.

I like the look of this club. I couldn't say that the last few years. This should be a decent club on paper. They will be better balanced with better pitching.

New Britain does a lot of things right. We're very happy here. It's almost a state-of-the-art facility. All it needs is a covered batting cage.

That's tough to gauge. Right now I can't say which way that thing's going to go.

I don't know exactly what the thoughts are with Kyle. But I hope we can solve this through negotiations.

It's going against my word if I were to commit to someone as my third baseman and then sign someone else. I struggled with the decision and I'm not sure if it was the right decision. Ask me about it in a year.

The dollars weren't the issue with us.
