We're going to have to see how it all works out. I don't know what's going to happen. If you look at this logically, he's starting late, he's coming off knee surgery. We can't say we're just going to plug him into the rotation. This just makes sense for the team. I like Boomer as a pitcher a lot, but I have a responsibility to the team I have to enforce. It's not a respect thing.

It's different. You've got to win today's game. It's almost like every game's an elimination game. I think it's a compliment to the teams the U.S. played against, and also it's the timing, so you don't get a true read of the teams. How many games of consequence do you have where a catcher plays half a game?

I can't take the game away from him. It would kill him. I can't do that. I don't want to be any part of that. I love the guy, but I don't want him to get hurt and I don't want him to get in trouble.
