I probably would rather have not seen it. I'm sure that it helped a little bit, but if I were a betting man, I'd bet it drew attention to it and could possibly make it worse.

I talked to him a little bit, but I didn't talk to him about that so much. He's a grown man. He pretty much knows what he can put up with and what he can't put up with. He's at least trying to deal with it to some degree.

We've had a couple (pitchers) step in that hadn't been doing well. It seems like we need all of them to get through this lineup.

That's another stamp that says how much he competes. I really feel good when Rodrigo is out there in situations like that. He doesn't give in.

He's not the only one (struggling). We've got a bunch of guys out there that are swinging at some bad pitches.

You know I think the world of Leo. He's one of my best friends. It would be great to work with him.

He's having a great season. Everything we see and hear from him has showed me he's a good hitter. He didn't miss any mistakes tonight.

It's kind of been one of our problems when we aren't winning games.

He has confidence now that he can pitch consistently in the major leagues. Those kind of things are big when you're talking about next year and putting a staff together again.

When you talked about the Orioles, you talked about Elrod.

This is a new spring. A new year. Dwelling on the past is a negative, and we would like to deal with positives.

We've got a new cast of characters, on the team and the staff.

We feel like he can do it. It's time for him to go ahead and step up and take the challenge. Not only take it, but do well with it. I feel totally confident that he can do it.

There's always concern with everything you do. It is what it is now, and you have to go with it. You can't just sit there on the fence when there's no fence to be found. He's our guy, and that's the way it's going to be. Hopefully that will be the answer.

I'm totally confident Ramon is going to be great for us. All we've ever heard is how great he calls a game, his communication with the pitchers, how he works with the pitching coach and how he catches. He seems to me to be the complete package.
