Well, they don't ever help you. We're trying to be too aggressive -- a little too aggressive. Everyone's pushing a little bit, but we need to get some base hits to fall in there.

I just think he needs some help. I don't know if it's alcohol or what it is, he obviously just needs some help, period.

I had a very good conversation with him probably 10 days ago, shortly after I got the job here. I asked him to curtail some stuff and to carry himself well around the ball club, and he said no problem, and quite honestly he was a gem of a guy on the airplanes and everything since then. So I'm a little surprised.

It's been a failure to get one guy hot. You've got nine guys in the lineup; you don't expect nine guys to scuffle. Somebody's got to swing the bat somewhere in there, and that hasn't happened to us in the second half.

I would think if you're under oath, you tell the truth. Isn't that what you're supposed to do?

I always felt in due time I would be rewarded. I totally believe this was the time it was supposed to be.

I have a lot to prove. I'm not afraid of that challenge.

When you talked about the Orioles, you talked about Elrod. Elrod Hendricks was one of the finest men I have ever met.

We could have made the game a little more interesting.

I want to thank Ray Miller for all he did, for his support and his professionalism. Ray did an outstanding job and we remain good friends. Leo and I have been best friends for a long time and have always said that if I get the chance to manage, he would be my pitching coach. I'm glad for us that it will happen, but I'm really happy for the Orioles organization that Leo has joined the club. His record speaks for itself.
