If he can monitor some consistency, and we think he will, you're going to put John's name up with the other upper-echelon pitchers in the game.

He wasn't totally out of sync, but he wasn't using the whole field. I think his ability to work the whole field is what makes him a better hitter, ... He's found a much better rhythm to where he is squaring the ball up and using the whole field now.

It's probably one of the best games he's pitched against us. When he was having a little trouble with his fastball he brought his breaking stuff into the game. He is about command as much as he is about velocity. If you had one you had to do without, it would be velocity. But right now he's having trouble with his command.

He is going to know whether he can pitch with it or not. If it is at a level that it is not going to affect any of his pitches or his ability to pitch with confidence, then he will be out there.

It was a great catch. He certainly feels healthy and he's moving well. We want to maintain that consistency.

We want to fold Jeff in there and see how he's going to adapt. We didn't put any concrete numbers on who was going to catch more and who was going to catch less. We're going to need them both, and obviously if Jeff grows into the position and he's performing better, he's going to get a lot more playing time.

He certainly feels healthy. He's moving well. You want to maintain that. His ability to play left field is important to us.

I thought Jeff Weaver did a terrific job. He gave us innings and got us to the bullpen, which is what we needed. You saw a guy that went after hitters and hit his spots. Other than the balls to Blalock, he pitched well.

He's almost playing second base there. It's probably a little different approach (to the ball), but we've been in that shift enough, and he's had to make that play.
