It's ready-get set-go time of year. We've got to come ready to play every day on both sides of the ball, and I couldn't be more pleased by what I'm seeing.

He's still young. Let's not get too impatient with him. He just lost his zone. It looked like he was just concerned with the runners too much, and he was rushing to the plate a little bit. I thought his stuff was good tonight.

Tejada knocks in 100 runs every year for a reason. But Shawn doesn't rattle out there. He may not do the job, but it's not because he is panic-stricken.

That was a big, big hit for us. A real big hit.

He doesn't shy away from any pitcher, he doesn't care how hard they throw or if he hasn't seen them before, he's going to go up there and hack. He's just a raw talent, and if he keeps working at it, I'm not sure what the ceiling is there.

We make changes as we go along. Whatever looks comfortable at the time we do it, we'll play along ... It's nothing like it was last year, obviously. Putting Kelly with him, it wasn't because they didn't get along or didn't work well together.

He's very determined when he goes out there. But I know he was frustrated by the problems he was having. . . . He's important to us.
